There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the World do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas?

From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not to permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church each element in the carol has a code word for a religious reality, which the children could remember.

The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ.
Two Turtledoves were the Old and New Testaments,
Three French hens stood for Faith, Hope and Love.
The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John .
The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament .
The six geese a-laying, stood for the six days of creation .
Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit, Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, contribution, Leadership And Mercy.
The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes
Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control .
The ten lords a-leaping were the Ten Commandments.
The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.
The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in The apostle's Creed.

So there is your History lesson for today, this message was shared with me by a friend and I found it interesting and enlightening and now I know how that strange song became a Christmas Carol..... MERRY CHRISTMAS!

alright, many ppl have asked me, "amerie, what do you want for christmas?" or in their usual manner," eh, what you want for christmas siah?" well, i've put some thought into it, and if you can be a great friend and love me for who i am, i'm happy enough and that'd be the best christmas present ever. and if you're family, i just want us always to be tgt, not letting any disputes keep us apart. honestly, presents are just materialistic stuff, i'd do without them if possible la. it's the thought that counts. i swear if anyone would come up to me and give me an empty box and say "this is how empty my life would be without you", I WOULD JUST MELT. or a simple letter just telling me how much this friendship means, i'd be glad. no need for brands and whatsoever, i just want the christmas joy, and that's what would put a smile on my face. that's me, im just the simple AMERIE(:

N: the year is ending, you'll be moving to a diff school next year. i hope that we'd keep in touch though. it might seem that at times im ignoring you or whatever, but i guess i was just being selfish. i didnt want to get too attached to you, so that i wouldnt miss you so much when you left, but guess what, it makes no diff eh? im sorry for all the times i made you feel like shit yea? you take good care of yourself!
